In conjunction with Tenterden Town Council and the Ashford Volunteer Centre, we are looking at the provision of a community transport service for Tenterden and the surrounding villages. Are you, or is anyone you know or care for, struggling to get into the town to do shopping/banking/go to appointments because the bus service isn’t frequent enough? Do you have trouble getting to the bus stop? Do you struggle to get on to the bus and need accessible transport to be able to get on and off? Are you a member of a local club or community group that needs transport to get to outings/meetings/competitive events?Read More →

We think that this short video (it’s only three minutes!) by the Campaign to End Loneliness really hits home about what not having contact with others can do to someone. It’s worth three minutes of your day. This is why we do what we do for the isolated and older people of Tenterden and the surrounding villages.Read More →

Tenterden Social Hub is working in conjunction with Tenterden Town Council and the Ashford Volunteer Centre to look at the need for a community transport service. Maybe you can’t get to the bus stop, can’t get onto the bus – or maybe there isn’t a bus service in the first place. Do you need to get about in the evenings and weekend, or during the daytime? At the Hub, we have several minibuses which are only used at certain times of the day. We are looking at ways to make these more effective. Additionally, Kent County Council have some grants available for new vehicles, butRead More →

From 1st January 2018 Tenterden and District Day Centre will be trading as Tenterden Social Hub. The change is being made to better represent the range of services that the charity provides, both within the building and out in the local community. When the day centre was originally opened in 1980, it was just that; a day centre for frail older people. Now it provides day services to disabled as well as older people, and offers a whole host of other services and facilities for people of all ages, such as meals on wheels, chiropody, osteopathy, dementia services, minibus and meeting facilities hire. On Sunday 3rd December we joined a number of other local organisations to receive a share of the £24,500 being given away by the organisers of Tractorfest, which took place in August. We received a cheque for £1,000, which is very much appreciated. We would like to pass our thanks to everyone involved in Tractorfest. They are all volunteers and work extremely hard for the event, both on the day and behind the scenes. Our members wanted to say ‘Thank you’ too.Read More →
